Take a walk through Intaka Island - (Century City, Cape Town)

A trip to Intaka Island

So yesterday I decided to once again head to the mall, Century City mall. I was in the mood for another spontaneous adventure so I searched the internet for interesting places in Century City and to my surprise do I find a nature reserve, called Intaka Island, and it's a walking distance from the mall! I spent the whole morning to afternoon there (then walked back to the mall and ended the day off perfectly, as seen below) I didn't get to take the tour boat, because it's not currently running (starts running again in June, only gives me reason to go back again) but I did have one incredible day walking the trail of the island alone, listening to the music of nature. This place is beyond the beauty that I tried to capture with my camera, so please make sure you go and experience it for yourself! That being said, below are some pictures to give you an idea of what to expect. I will attach their contact details and website below this post as well as a link to my Instagram account where you can view short videos of the reserve! Enjoy and don't forget to subscribe for more adventures and awesome locations!

The entrance to Intaka Island, a bridge over the canal

Front section of the Reserve, where you can make use of the vending machines,
conference rooms, and of course pay your way in.

Being greeted by this beautiful view...

Carry on walking or sit down and take in this beauty, the choice is up to you...

The view from the first bench

Loads of beautiful pathways

Another beautiful view higher up

I somehow enjoyed walking through the occasional web, right into my face lol I guess it's a nature thing, this is all apart of the wonderful experience. That being said, very grateful that I did not spot any spiders lol

Step in and take in the view

Did you know that?

A tunnel of beauty

The pond area, where you can sit alone and mediate, if you're into that sort of thing...

The blissful feeling of being surrounded by nature

The separate male and female toilets

The awesome natural design in the toilet. A drop-and-go toilet with no flush. It doesn't get more nature than this lol

Education area, where you can take in the amazing view or light a fire and get warm and cosy...

There is a choice of sticking to the man-made trail (as seen) or walking off onto a natural trail, I ended up doing both!

The best spot on Intaka Island, according to me lol because the view from way up here is breathtaking and I spent most of the time sitting up here reading, writing and thinking... about how beautiful life and this world is.

The view from the top

Doing some reading

A spectacular pathway, which I can assure you, you will not rush through

The entrance to the bird hideouts... where you can be that creepy stalker spying on birds, that could be you! lol

Peep-holes to view the birds from all angles!

The most peaceful section is definitely the bird hideouts, where you can watch the birds float around living life, listening to the music of their communication combined with the sound of the splash of the water

The Intaka Island tour boat I never got to ride on (next time for sure)

I went to check it out anyway...

Such a cool boat, rain or shine you are covered and still get the view with the windows open

I ended the day off by watching a movie at Century City mall's cinema, alone, for the first time (there is always time to try something new) and I really enjoyed watching the new Cinderella, is it sad if I cried because of the good morals in the story lol well then I'm a sad little loser-person lol) after that I ended up at the Crystal towers hotel and enjoyed the usual Rooibos tea! Tourist or local I recommend this adventure!
